A term originating from the Nation’s Capital, referring to hot dogs and halfsmokes. 

Glizzys Vegan Food Company was born out of an idea to create a plant-based “Glizzy ''. Dontrell Britton and Nathan Headspeth, founders of Glizzys Vegan Food Company, wanted to create a community where people could enjoy quality vegan food in an environment that feels like home.

Both Nathan and Dontrell overcame adversity and many challenges growing up in Northwest DC. At 16, Dontrell’s dad was shot and killed in Adams Morgan. Desperate to take care of his family, Dontrell resorted to selling drugs to earn an income at a young age. At 19, he was convicted of conspiracy to distribute heroin and crack and was incarcerated for four years. While locked up he turned his life around and transformed into becoming a successful certified personal trainer.

Overcoming these obstacles against all odds motivated them to forge a new future for not only themselves but for future generations too. The founders are committed to hiring and mentoring at risk youth, giving them the opportunity to demonstrate a commitment to positively transforming their lives through their Glizzys Crew Youth Program.
